Back up and move to a new device

Because everything is stored only on your device, make a backup before you switch phones or reinstall.

In Settings, tap Back up. You pick a passphrase (at least 8 characters) and GudMem writes a single encrypted file — you choose where to save it (Files, your own cloud drive, anywhere). Keep the passphrase safe: without it, the backup can't be opened.

On the new device, install GudMem, open Settings, tap Restore, choose the file and enter the passphrase. Your groups, faces, notes and voice recordings all come back.

The file is encrypted, so it's safe to keep in your own cloud storage — GudMem still never sees it.
